Algorithm

CAS Registry Number converts various names of chemical substances used in education, industry, science to a series of three parts. The most important feature of the algorithm is easy and understandable. The first part consists of 6, the second part 2 and the last part assigned to the control. In this way, many (up to 1,000,000,000) different product codes can be created.

  • Example:

CAS Number of Boric Acid: 10043-35- 3
    Formula: (5*1 + 3*2 + 3*3 + 4*4 + 0*5 + 0*6 + 1*7) = 43
    43(mod 10) = 3
